What is Mia Femtech®?

Mia Femtech® is a breast augmentation procedure that uses the Mia Femtech® Diamond implant and a proprietary single-use insertion device to place a cohesive silicone implant through an underarm incision of around 2 cm. How Mia Femtech® works

The Mia Femtech® system pairs the Mia Femtech® Diamond implant with a dedicated single-use insertion device. Each element has a specific job, and understanding both helps you picture exactly what happens on the day.

The implant

The Mia Femtech® Diamond implant is a round, cohesive silicone gel device with a smooth, nano-textured surface designed to integrate with the surrounding tissue. Its ergonomic gel is designed to adapt to body position once placed.

The insertion device

A patented single-use device compresses and guides the implant through a small incision, placed in the underarm fold. The incision is approximately 2 cm, compared with the 4–5 cm incision often used in conventional augmentation. This smaller access point is designed to reduce tissue disruption and scarring.

Under local anaesthetic

Because the incision is small and tissue handling is minimised, the procedure can be performed under local anaesthetic with or without light sedation. Your surgeon will confirm the most appropriate anaesthetic plan for you at consultation.

Procedure time

The implant insertion itself typically takes around 15 minutes from incision to wound closure. You will spend additional time at the clinic for preparation and a short post-procedure observation period before discharge. Most patients go home the same day. The consultation and 3D preview

Your journey starts with a detailed consultation, not a quick size selection. You are planning a result that suits your frame, your lifestyle, and your aesthetic goals, and the consultation is designed to make that clear from the first appointment.

What happens at consultation

Your surgeon will review your medical history, assess your breast tissue, chest wall dimensions, and skin quality, and discuss candidacy for the Mia Femtech® technique. Not every patient is suitable for this approach. Existing breast volume, skin laxity, and your desired outcome all influence whether Mia Femtech® is the right route for you. If a conventional augmentation would serve you better, your surgeon will tell you clearly.

3D imaging

iQonic uses 3D visualisation 3D preview technology so you can visualise your anticipated result before making any decision. During your consultation, images of your body are processed through the 3D visualisation platform to generate a three-dimensional simulation of different implant sizes and profiles. You can rotate the image, compare options side by side, and arrive at a shared understanding with your surgeon about what the right result looks like for you.

Taking your time

There is no pressure to proceed on the day of consultation. At iQonic, there are at least 14 days’ reflection between your consultation and any decision to proceed with surgery.

Implant options and sizing

The Mia Femtech® system uses the Mia Femtech® Diamond implant range. Its key specifications are set out below.

Because the Mia Femtech® device has a specific size envelope, very large volume requests may fall outside what the technique can achieve comfortably. Your surgeon will advise you on the maximum volume suitable for your anatomy and the Mia Femtech® system during consultation.

Recovery profile

The outline below gives you a general sense of the timeline. Your surgeon’s specific instructions take precedence at every stage.

Days 1–3

You may experience mild to moderate soreness, tightness across the chest, and some swelling. You should rest at home and avoid lifting your arms above shoulder height. Your surgeon will advise you on suitable pain relief. You will wear a supportive post-operative bra supplied by the clinic.

Days 4–7

Swelling begins to reduce and discomfort typically eases significantly. You may feel ready to return to sedentary desk work during this window, subject to how you feel and your surgeon’s sign-off. You should continue to avoid any upper-body exertion and sleep on your back.

Weeks 2–4

Most patients resume light daily activity and low-impact movement. You should continue wearing your post-operative bra and avoiding underwired styles. Most patients are already driving by now: driving is usually possible within the first one to two weeks, once you can perform an emergency stop comfortably and are no longer on prescription pain medication. Confirm the exact milestone with your surgeon.

Weeks 4–6

You can typically reintroduce lower-body exercise and light cardio such as brisk walking or a static bike (gentle walking is encouraged from the first day). Upper-body and impact exercise should still be avoided. Your surgeon will assess your progress at follow-up and advise when a return to full exercise is appropriate.

Beyond 6 weeks

Most patients receive clearance for full exercise from around the six-week mark, subject to their follow-up assessment. Final implant settling, where the implant drops and softens into its natural position, continues for three to six months. Scars continue to mature and fade for up to 12 months.
